Catholic brief / public charge
The Charge Against Anti-Cosmic Gnosis
Christianity does not answer Gnosticism by pretending every churchman is clean, every empire baptized itself without blood, or every visible office has behaved like Christ. The counterclaim is deeper than institutional defense: the world is created, wounded, judged, loved, entered, and promised renewal.
The Catholic accusation is that anti-cosmic Gnosis mistakes the scandal of evil for a verdict against being itself. It sees corruption in history and then risks naming flesh, birth, bread, water, and public witness as part of the trap. Christianity answers with incarnation: God does not send a password out of matter. God takes matter into the answer.
If God took flesh, then the material world is not beneath redemption.
